Cadet Live Fire Training Held At Clatsop Community College |
From: Caitlin Wright Clatsop Community College Cadet Live Fire Training Held At Clatsop Community College Clatsop Community College (CCC) hosted the high school annual Cadet Live Fire Training this week from May 26th-28th at the MERTS campus Fire Response and Research Center (FRRC). There were 102 regional high school fire cadet students and 38 instructors from Oregon and SW Washington in attendance. The Cadet Live Fire Training culminates a year of study by each cadet at his or her high school. Some of the event’s activities included fighting a live fire and learning about truck operations, technical rescue and hose evolutions. The purpose of this training is to instruct cadets in basic firefighter I skills as well as to teach skills such as team building, decision-making, and problem solving. The event provides hands-on training that is, at times, physically demanding and stressful. According to Joey Daniels, CCC’s Fire Science Instructor, “This is a fantastic opportunity for these students to put into practice what they’ve been learning throughout the year at their individual high schools and CCC is pleased to team up with the regional Fire Departments to provide the location for this training.” For more information, please contact Joey Daniels at 503-338-7650 or via email at JDaniels@clatsopcc.edu. Clatsop Community College is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution. Images Attached:
