PRESS RELEASE: FANFARES, FIREWORKS AND FUGUES, MUSIC TO CELEBRATE THE SUMMER

On Saturday, July 18th at 7:30 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center in downtown Astoria, Clatsop Community College Arts and Ideas presents Brass Gone Baroque in a summer concert that will feature an array of bright works, including Handel’s “Fireworks”, Samuel Scheidt’s “Battle Suite”, William Byrd’s “Earl of Oxfords March” and Buxtehude’s “Fanfare and Chorus”. Antiphonal works of Anducci and Giovanni Gabrieli display the power of two brass choirs working in harmony. Lively Renaissance dances of William Brade and Tylman Susato round out the program. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased in advance at Bach ‘n’ Rock or at the door one hour before the show. Children 12 and under accompanied by an adult are free.
