Clatsop Community College Provides Training And Information Session For Tutors

On Saturday, August 22nd, 2009, Clatsop Community College (CCC) will offer a Volunteer Literacy Tutor Training session in Astoria for current program tutors and those who may be interested in becoming a tutor. The training session will profile the CCC literacy student population, provide streamlined study materials to use with new English speakers, and generate suggestions on how the coordinator may better assist tutors. We will discuss tips for solving glitches between students and their tutors. The Volunteer Literacy Tutor Training session will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the 4th floor conference room of the Astoria Gateway Apartments at Mill Pond (2775 Steam Whistle Way). The Astoria Gateway Apartments at Mill Pond conference room is ADA Accessible.

Volunteer Literacy Tutors are invited to bring those who may be interested in tutoring. There’s no obligation to volunteer and they will have the opportunity to learn about the program!

To RSVP for this training, please contact Eileen Purcell at 503-338-2557 or via email at epurcell@clatsopcc.edu. Call or email Eileen with questions and/or suggestions for particular concerns you would like to see addressed at the training.

For directions to the Astoria Gateway Apartments at Mill Pond and information about parking, please contact Eileen or tutor Donna Hill at 503-325-1042.

Clatsop Community College is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution.
