PRESS RELEASE: CLASSICAL GUITARIST, RYAN WALSH, RETURNS TO THE CLATSOP COMMUNITY COLLEGE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER SUNDAY, AUGUST 30TH, 2009 AT 3:00 PM

Ryan Walsh was first inspired to pick up the guitar by guitarists such as Leo Kottke and Jazz Fusion virtuoso Al Di Meola, but was soon seduced by the vast musical diversity and expressiveness of the classical realm. He studied guitar with David Drury while attending Clatsop Community College (CCC). Then, upon graduation he decided to pack his bags and head for the romantic, mysterious wine laden regions of the Mediterranean to expand his guitar studies and seek his fortune. He is currently planning on resuming these studies in October, this time in Seville, under the tutelage of renowned guitar professor, Paco Canton. This summer, Ryan brings us what he has learned from the musically rich culture of Spain through selections on guitar.

Don’t miss Ryan’s third annual concert at the CCC Performing Arts Center at 16th and Franklin St. in downtown Astoria. Josef Gault, Cultural Coordinator for CCC says, “This is a must see concert, you will be glad you were here.” The show begins at 3:00 PM just after the Sunday Market. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased in advance at Bach ‘N’ Rock or at the door starting ½ hour before the show. Children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Clatsop Community College is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution. The Performing Arts Center is ADA Accessible.
