New Degree-Seeking Students! Come To Clatsop Community College’s New Student Orientation

Clatsop Community College (CCC) will host an afternoon of events to acquaint new CCC students with the campus and the College on Thursday, September 24th, 2009 beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the Patriot Hall Gym. The goal of New Student Orientation is to help new students learn to be successful as they begin their higher education journey.

New CCC students will hear about many of the services available for them at CCC such as career and personal counseling, tutoring, and email. Students will be able to meet their instructors and other people on campus who are here to assist them.

As part of the day’s events, CCC will host “Monster College Advantage,” a free success presentation for first-year college students. “Monster College Advantage” provides first-year college students with important information on how to own their college experience and be successful both in and out of the classroom. This interactive, on-campus presentation emphasizes the importance of goal-setting, time management and strong academic performance, as well as gives students information and strategies to help them maximize their future career opportunities.

Parents are invited to come to a short Parent Orientation at 5:30 p.m. in Patriot Hall, Room 333, to learn about what their new student will be doing at CCC. Parents will then join the students to conclude the celebration.

Pre-registration for New Student Orientation is required; students and parents may register online at www.clatsopcc.edu. Contact Joanne Swenson at 503-338-2407 or jswenson@clatsopcc.edu for more information.

Clatsop Community College is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution. For ADA or other accommodations call 503-338-2474; TDD 503-338-2468.
