Clatsop Community College Career Pathways

What is Career Pathways?
Career Pathways is a series of educational programs that enables individuals to gain employment advantages in a targeted occupation or industry. By completing a Career Pathways Certificate Program at Clatsop Community College, students increase their qualifications for work opportunities, and then may advance over time to successively higher levels of education and employment.

Career Pathways provides avenues for career advancement for current workers, reentry into the job force for displaced workers, and opportunities for new entrants into the labor market. It creates entry points into the labor force and promotes educational attainment related to local industry needs.

By targeting jobs of importance to the local economy, the Career Pathways Program also provides a supply of qualified workers for area employers.

Earn a Career Pathways Certificate:
Whether you’re a high school student, college student, or adult worker, you may find just what you’re looking for at Clatsop Community College in the Career Pathways Program.

  • Take 4 - 9 classes (12-44 credits, depending on the Career Pathways Program you choose)
  • Attend school part-time or full time
  • Further develop your skills and knowledge
  • Prepare for career advancement by gaining additional experience and education
  • Increase your wage potential and self sufficiency
  • Choose your own time frame

Courses in the Career Pathways Program may be applied to the completion of the Less-Than-One-Year and One-Year Certificate Programs and/or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree. Courses may also support the attainment of a Bachelor’s degree.

Current Clatsop Community College Career Pathways Certificate Programs:

Roadmaps show the connections between education and careers at different levels within the industry.

Seamanship Career Pathways Certificate Program
Length of training: Approximately 3-6 months (minimum-17 credits).  Offered - Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms.

Medical Assistant Career Pathways Certificate Program

Length of training: Approximately 3 months (minimum-15 credits.  Offered Fall Term only.

Retail Management Career Pathways Certificate Program

Length of training: Approximately 9 months (minimum-16 credits).  Offered - Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms.

Automotive Technician Pathways Certificate Program

Length of training: Approximately 6 months (minimum-17 credits).  Offered - Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms.


Sustainable Energy Technician Career Pathways Certificate Program
Length of training:  depending on certificate specialized options (14–16 credits).  Offered - Fall, Winter, and Spring Terms.
