CCC Receives Grant For Volunteer Literacy Program |
From: Eileen Purcell Clatsop Community College CCC Receives Grant For English Language Learner Software For Its Volunteer Literacy Program The Autzen Foundation recently awarded Clatsop Community College $3,825.00 to purchase English language learner software for the College’s Volunteer Literacy Program. The software will be loaded onto laptops that are lent to students who are enrolled in the literacy program. The software supplements the time students spend with volunteers, and gives an extra boost to students unable to make it to class due to lack of transportation, time and childcare. Increasing the number of hours of instruction through the use of home computers helps students to stay focused, make more rapid progress, and remain enrolled and engaged with the program. The Autzen Foundation grant helps the Volunteer Literacy Program create access to learning opportunities and alternative ways of delivering instruction.
