Bradwood Landing Contributes $35,000 To Clatsop Community College For Welding Equipment
“New tools will provide greater opportunity for students,” says CCC faculty

Astoria—Clatsop Community College today announced a significant contribution from Bradwood Landing, a CCC educational partner, to help purchase additional welding equipment for local students. The contribution of $35,000 will secure equipment for flux core (wire feed), innershield (wire feed), aluminum (wire feed and TIG welding), and track burner welding.

“Bradwood Landing’s contribution will provide new tools that enable more students to develop welding skills,” says Harley Bristol, Clatsop Community College welding faculty member. “With this partnership, a greater number of students will be able to learn valuable skills that can lead to good paying, family wage jobs. We appreciate Bradwood’s investment in our local workforce.”

“The partnership between Bradwood Landing and Clatsop Community College enhances job training and economic development on the North Coast,” said Bristol.

The new equipment includes Lincoln Inverter welding machines, LCN LF74 Feeders, an inner shield gun, a Lincoln Cobramatic feeder, a Python torch, a Miller Syncrowaves TIG Runner package, a Victor track burner and machine torch, carts, cables, connectors, and other needed welding supplies.

Prior to the gift, welding students shared equipment, slowing down the learning process. The lack of equipment often caused student work to be interrupted, causing unnecessary learning barriers.

Pete Hackett, local representative for the Northern Star Natural Gas Bradwood project, praised the program. “Our partnership will bring greater opportunity for local workers and a strong local workforce for our project. We’re proud to contribute to local economic development efforts and invest in Clatsop County’s most important asset: its people,” said Hackett.

Bristol added, “These welding and cutting machines are state of the art equipment. Most are computerized, enabling us to keep pace with industrial demand. The tools our students will use here at Clatsop Community College are the same as what they will find in the workplace.”
