Four $500 Scholarships Available For Creative Arts

The Towler Scholars are Clatsop Community College's newest scholarship awards, recognizing academic distinction as well as unique personal qualities. Four scholarships in the amount of $500 each will be awarded to students returning to or who have been admitted and plan to enroll full-time at Clatsop Community College in September 2008. Recipients receive a $500 scholarship awarded in the areas of creative writing (Poetry, Drama, Fiction, Children's Books), journalism, art and music.

To be eligible, an applicant needs to demonstrate ability in these academic areas. Students will be selected as finalists on the basis of their accomplishments, artwork, journalism submissions, music participation and original essays. However, it is important to note that the applicant may major in any area they choose.

A completed general Clatsop Community College scholarship form must be submitted with the following requested materials. All applications must be typed.

ART: a portfolio of works
CREATIVE WRITING: a portfolio of writings (3-5 pieces, 20 page maximum) (Poetry, Drama, Fiction, Children's Books)
JOURNALISM: a portfolio of published articles, essays (3-5 pieces)
MUSIC: an audition tape or CD

The application and ALL of the related materials must be postmarked no later than May 21st, 2008.
