May 19, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NORTH OREGON COAST SYMPHONY TO PERFORM IN TILLAMOOK AND ASTORIA

Mozart, Schumann and Beethoven will be featured in North Oregon Coast Symphony’s Spring Concert.  Two concert dates are set: Friday, May 30, 7:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center, 16th and Franklin in Astoria and Sunday, June 1, 3:00 p.m. at the Tillamook United Methodist Church, 3808 12th Street in Tillamook.

This concert will feature an added musical treat.  Each concert will be preceeded with music provided by “Trillium” a piano/cello/flute trio from Astoria.  Trillium’s music will begin 30 minutes prior to concert time.

“We are very encouraged by the response to our concerts this season,” said Collin Heade, conductor of the symphony.  “The high level of musicianship and the concert content have been overwhelmingly popular on the coastal communities which furthers our mission to provide quality, affordable classical music concerts on the coast. Our musicians have made this happen by volunteering their dedication and sharing their love of music with the community.”

This concert will round out a successful season for the group who offer annual Fall, Winter and Spring performances.  Along with community concerts, the North Oregon Coast Symphony (NOCS) also provides musical education and scholarships through the Sandy Stromquist Memorial Scholarship Fund to local students who play regularly with the group.  At this concert series, four recipients will be named for this year’s scholarships.  Intermission concessions available at the concert are one source of funding the Scholarship Fund along with donations by individuals throughout Clatsop and Tillamook Counties.

The NOCS Spring Concert is made possible in part by a grant from Tillamook Federal Credit Union, the CCC Arts & Ideas Program and many local individuals. Advanced tickets may be purchased by calling 503/368-7160 or from any NOCS musician.  Admission is $10, children 12 and under are Free.

The North Oregon Coast Symphony is a 501©3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.  For more information on how to donate or sponsor the upcoming concert series, please call 503/368-7160.
