From: Caitlin Wright Clatsop Community College Enjoy A Slice Of Pie For Pi’s (π) Sake At Clatsop Community College! CCC will celebrate the circle and the mystery of the mathematical constant Pi (π) on Pi Day, March 14th, 2008 at CCC’s Jerome Campus (Fertig Hall, SEA Services, Rm. 24) from 1:59 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Pi is everywhere around us; it is the ratio of any circle’s circumference to the length of its diameter. The date of the celebration mimics the first eight digits of Pi, which are 3.1415926. Thus, Pi Day is on March 14th (3/14), begins at 1:59 p.m. and goes to 6:00 p.m. To celebrate Pi Day, CCC has invited none other than Pi’s famous relative—delicious Pie—to the festivities! There will be math games, Pi and other math walks, face painting, pie prizes and more. Please join us and enjoy a slice of pie as we celebrate the mysteries of Pi. Admission is free! This event is appetizing for all ages and families are encouraged to attend (children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult). For additional information about this fun event or if you have questions about the mysteries of Pi, contact TJ Lackner, CCC Mathematics Instructor, at (503) 338-2452 or tlackner@clatsopcc.edu. Clatsop Community College is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution. ADA accessible. |
