Clatsop Community College Breaks Ground And Recycles It

Clatsop Community College (CCC) is pleased to announce the following two local contractors, Big River Construction and Clatsop Electric, were awarded contracts for the demolition of Fertig Hall and related utility work associated with CCC’s Jerome Campus Redevelopment Project (JCRP). The work performed during this phase is preparatory to the start of extensive site work and construction over the next year of the new 40,000+ square foot building on the South side of Lexington Avenue.

During the demolition of Fertig Hall, Big River Construction will crush the majority of the concrete associated with the building’s structure; the crushed concrete will be stockpiled on site to be used as recycled fill materials during the next phase of construction work.

All of the metals from the demolition process will be recycled; the majority of the structural wood ceiling beams will be salvaged and recycled, and the remaining wood stud walls and roof decking materials will be ground-up for recycled uses.

For information regarding the JCRP please go to CCC’s website at www.clatsopcc.edu/campus

Clatsop Community College is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution.
