2008 Fall and 2009 Winter Season |
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 20, 2008 Can you sing? Do you vocalize in tune while everyone around you is off key? Are you liable to burst into song when 1) the sun’s out, 2) your favorite song comes on the radio or 3) because you just plain feel like it? If you answered “yes” to the above, consider joining the North Coast Chorale. The Chorale is made up of people just like you who’ve banded together out of a love of music and the sheer joy of singing! Founded almost 20 years ago, the Chorale is affiliated with the Clatsop Community College’s “Arts and Ideas” program and is a non-profit organization. Every year it gives two concerts for the public. Currently, singers are poised and ready to embark on the Chorale’s Fall and Winter Season under the very able direction of Dr. Denise Reed-Hinds. Rehearsals are typically one night a week—on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.—starting September 9 at the Clatsop Community College’s Performing Arts Center, located on the corner of Franklin & 16th Streets in Astoria. Slated to be performed at the Chorale’s winter concert, on December 12, 13, and 14, are: Saint-Saens’ Christmas Oratorio along with assorted Christmas and Hanukah pieces. On December 20 and 21, the Chorale will be singing Handel’s Messiah as a benefit for the Liberty Theater and the Columbia Memorial Hospital! This is an ambitious program of singing that promises to be both challenging and inspiring. So… if you can match pitch and love to sing, you’ll be more than welcome. We’re a friendly, dedicated bunch and could always use another voice. Contact: Carol Kerfoot for more information at 503-861-0180
